Shih Men Jumping Fish |

Jiaan West Road is known as the birthplace of jumping
fish dishes. Jin Lan Fish Restaurant, established over 20 years ago, is accredited
as the first and most representative restaurant in the area. The success of Jin
Lan has attracted other restaurants and has turned the area into a street of fish
cuisines. A new street around the Shihmen Elementary School and Shihmen Reservoir
Administration Office also features the jumping fish dishes. Many restaurants on
the old street moved to the new street, and visitors can find at least 20 restaurants
providing fish dishes here. This is a street that visitors cannot miss!!

The Hsu brothers rejuvenated a tradition by combining tea with traditional
Hakka cuisines, and turned their farms into a recreational orchard for tourists
in cooperation with the policies of the Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Bureau. Slowing
Orchard takes up over 9,000 square meters, and offers meals, tea, a B&B as well
as other recreational facilities. Slowing Orchard is a well-organized recreational
resort which provides facilities such as tea rooms, a fish pond, barbecue area,
playground for young visitors as well as sports and exercise equipment. For overnight
visitors, clean cabins are provided.
